Casio Telememo 50 Review – A Look Back At My First Quartz Watch

Casio Telememo 50To be honest, I had forgotten that I still had this watch. Then one day my wife informed me that she had run across an old watch of mine. Curious as to what she had found, I went to see what it was.

There it was, my very first quartz watch. A Casio Telememo 50. It had been buried away in some unknown box for about 25 years. I couldn’t believe I had forgotten about it, much less still had it in my possession. I had no way to know if it would still work, although I couldn’t remember it having any issues when last worn. When I first saw this watch, I knew I had to have it! I remember the day I bought it, I was with my two children and my mother. My mom looked at me as if I was crazy for wanting it, let alone buying it. The Different Types of Watch Movements

Quartz movement vs. Mechanical movement.

The watch movement is the heart of a watch that powers it and all of its other functions (if any).
The internal mechanism inside the watch drives the hands and supplies power to anything extra such as calendars, chronographs, dual time zones, etc.
It simply could not function without the internal movement, as it is the component that drives all of the watches functions.

Styles of watches are as varied as the people wearing them, but in the end, the types of watches can be narrowed down to two. [Read more…]
